Windows 8 & Internet Explorer 10 accessing SharePoint 2010

Internet Explorer 10 is chrome-less when launched from the new Metro-style UI in Windows 8.

You can enter the site URL at the bottom. Notice the areas for quick access to Frequent and Pinned sites:

A nicer, newer, login prompt:

SharePoint 2010 displayed in all the newness! (I can already tell some nice enhancements in IE10 for SharePoint Admins – stay tuned for that!)

For added fun, shown below is IE10 accessing www.tcsc.com (a SharePoint Server 2010 site). The bottom black bar disappears once you start navigating the site.

Shown next is adding a new tab to navigate to another site – www.tcscblog.com:

    What summarily review.
If you talk about SharePoint 2010 and Windows 8(RT)(IE10) first thing I want to know is what is working and what nog, cause IE10 is ‘plug-in free’, and SharePoint 2010 ranks a browser without plugins(like safari on Ipad) as a 3rd ranked browser. So no ActiveX, no Silverlight, no Java, no Flash.
I really hope not that SharePoint 2010 will be just as crappy on a new Surface RT as on my iPad….

    Adam,

We’re testing our MOSS07 sites for Windows8/IE10 compatibility. So far we’ve discovered the topnav links don’t work and css doesn’t render properly in certain areas. Microsoft suggests adding a compatible header tag to automatically use previous browser version standard modes.

I added this tag to the master page, but it still doesn’t remedy the issues. Any suggestions on how we can force compatibility mode without the end user having to manually enable it?

I just upgraded to IE10 for Windows 7 and found that the Rich Text Editor in the wiki does not work. I can’t edit text using HTML either unless I use Chrome or Firefox.
Has anyone found a fix to get Rich Text Editing to work with IE10 in MOSS2007 (12.0.0.4518)?

Shortly after posting I found a solution. You need to set the Compatibility Mode for the site. Since the compatibility mode option may not shown up in the URL bar, hit F12 to open the developer tools, select Browser Mode of anything but IE10.

  5. Observation: What really stood out to me is how relatively well this position pays no matter where you live, and how good or bad your finances are.
Usually, seo companies have experienced seo professionals
who employ underhand techniques, the leading search engine
and brings more visitors to your website. The recently created website has to stand out of the
deal. Then articles and blogs have to be downloaded only once.
